Release: 2017 Belharra "The Search" Knights Valley Chardonnay

Our 2017 Belharra “The Search” Chardonnay from Knights Valley is now available for purchase through our online store. We are again donating a portion of the proceeds to MissionBlue™, an international ocean conservation, awareness and exploration foundation. Fans of our past vintages will likewise find a Chardonnay that balances a crushed minerality with a toasted mid-pallet and honeyed fruit finish. Harvested September 9th, the clone 4 Chardonnay comes from a rockier section of the block near the creek. Barrel-fermented and aged 11 months, we are pleased to present a consistently crowd-pleasing Chardonnay.

White stone and lychee on the nose, a crushed oyster-shell salinity rises into a brûléed center structure, with a lemon and honeysuckle finish. A touch of tropical fruit still marks it as a warmer-climate Chardonnay, but the interaction of other nuances is the driver of this wine.

Orders will ship weather-permitting to an estimated arrival of December 12th-14th. Please add order notes or reach out individually if you need special arrangements. We also encourage you to check your stock of 2015 Las Madres Syrah, as our inventory diminishes. We continue to offer free delivery of wine to our Napa/Sonoma/Sacramento/Bay Area customers.

Notes from 2018:

A mild growing season elongated harvest, and pushed us to some of our latest pick dates since inception for Belharra and an overall season that lasted through Thanksgiving. Our chosen pick-dates for all varietals were therefore ideal, as there was no pressure from heat, rain or crowded wineries. We expanded our offerings for the future by purchasing grapes from two new growers in Northern California. From Pope Valley (eastern Napa Valley), we sourced Sauvignon Blanc and are very excited to offer it as a part of our Spring 2019 release. From outside Mendocino, we brought in Pinot Noir grapes from the Alder Springs vineyard, and are not-so-patiently waiting to share it with all of you!

The continued support of our mailing list members is what sustains us and sets us in a position to expand when great opportunities come along. The vast majority of you we have met in-person over the past 5 years, and we are looking forward to having further interaction as we invest more resources to better connect with our customers. This is still a two-woman show, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with special requests or questions. Also a reminder to let us know when you are visiting Northern California; we have opportunities to get some Belharra in your glass and see a vineyard or production locale.

Cheers,

Anne and Camille
